On behalf of his clients, Mr. Slap has used America’s environmental laws protect public health and the environment by stopping water and air pollution, toxic waste dumping, and by forcing local governments to replace aging and polluting sewer infrastructure. His citizen suits against the City of Philadelphia, Cincinnati and Miami-Dade County brought billions of dollars of investments in wastewater treatment plants and tens of thousands of new construction jobs to those cities. Also, in Cincinnati, his litigation established the first-of-its-kind, Sewage Overflow Victims’ Compensation Program, which has now been operating successfully for over 12-years and has directed over $200 million to prevent sewer overflow damages to private homeowners.

Mr. Slap was also senior counsel to Biscayne Bay Waterkeeper (www.bbwk.org) in the first lawsuit in the Nation to force local government to make its critical public infrastructure climate ready and storm safe. Mr. Slap has served as a Board Member of The Nature Conservancy’s Pennsylvania Chapter and Director of The Nature Conservancy’s Colorado River Program from 2004-2009.

As General Counsel to Friends of the Everglades in 2012, Mr. Slap’s litigation forced a historic $880 million settlement between the EPA, the State of Florida, and the South Florida Water Management District to expand the pollution filter marshes below Big Sugar and above Everglades National Park. In 2014, Mr. Slap was the  recipient of the prestigious Marjory Stoneman Douglas “Defender of the Everglades” Award. Mr. Slap resides in Boca Raton, FL.
